Winter season at Oak Leaf Cafe

There is nothing better than cozying up to a warm crackling wood fire and being fed delicious food and yummy red wine…at least that’s my idea of a good time! At Oak Leaf Café, we aim to bring you exactly that and more.

During the cooler months, May – October, Sandy starts making her daily wholesome hearty soups, which we serve with artisan toast and butter in the Café or you can opt to take a 500ml tub away to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

Our customers just love our chunky vegetable minestrone, creamy potato and leak, pea & bacon, creamy corn chowder, beef goulash, curried pumpkin & lentil and our nourishing chicken & vegetable soup to name but a few.

Sandy and her team also prepare one to two take-home meals per week. These meals vary from delicious pasta dishes like lasagna and cannelloni to aromatic curries, hearty stews, beef bobotie and Thai chicken dishes. Our kitchen also prepares a freshly baked crustless deep-dish quiche every morning, which pairs beautifully with a fresh garden salad or a bowl of crispy golden chips.

For all those pizza-lovers out there, we have decided to bring back our pizza’s this winter. We have purchased a nifty little gas pizza oven and we’ll use Maillard Bakery’s sourdough wood-fired pizza bases and build them up with our own unique variations of toppings. We serve our pizza’s with a side of fresh chilli in organic olive oil.

Our restaurant is set-up with a variety of seating options. Inside the main room of the Café, you can enjoy the warmth generated from our beautiful fire-engine red Piazzetta wood-burning fireplace. On our two verandas, we have installed chic roll-down blinds to protect you from wind and rain on bad weather days. There are also two gas burners located on the verandas and warm blankets at each outside table to keep the chill at bay.

Most days in winter are mild, crisp and beautiful with clear blue skies. Hence our garden and fountain courtyard seating remains a popular choice for customers that prefer to be seated outdoors.

Our exquisite high teas are becoming increasingly popular for special occasions or just a wonderful little spoil. Take your time and enjoy a tiered platter of hand-made sweet and savoury treats, a basket with fresh butter scones and muffins served with whipped cream, curled butter & home-made strawberry preserves. Savour the unlimited specialty coffees or loose-leaf teas and ofcourse the welcome glass of chilled MCC!

I couldn't be prouder being the Owner of the Oak Leaf Café in beautiful Belvidere Knysna. My sister Sandy (our Head Chef) and I have spent the past few years growing this business into a thriving destination restaurant on the Garden Route. I relocated to Knysna in 2015, bringing with me many years of experience in Cape Town in a highly creative online travel space. Both Sandy and I are "avid foodies" and once we joined forces in Knysna & followed our passion... magic happened! The result is Oak Leaf Café today!
